Building a New Rust Bitcoin Node in the AI Era
Bitcoin Core’s conservatism and stability are major reasons for its success, but they also make radical architectural experimentation increasingly expensive. bitcoin-rs asks what a Bitcoin full node would look like if designed again today. In this talk, I compare Bitcoin Core, btcd, and Electrum architectures, identify boundaries and duplicated responsibilities that become difficult to evolve, and show how bitcoin-rs approaches them differently. I’ll also show how AI is used to accelerate implementation and exploration, where it tends to fail, and how human architectural judgment, review, and reproducible verification are used to keep those failures from becoming part of the system.
