The write-up

Bitcoin only changes if people agree. But the proposals are written for engineers.

Every upgrade to Bitcoin starts as a dense technical document. Then your feed splits into two camps shouting “this saves Bitcoin” and “this ruins it”, and most people are left trying to work out who to trust.

Is this good for Bitcoin? explains every consensus-changing proposal the way a smart friend would, in plain terms, no jargon, no hype, and deliberately no side. Then it shows you where people actually stand, and lets you weigh in with sats behind your opinion.

We explain and we host the debate. We never tell you the answer.

How it works

1. Understand it. We pull every soft-fork BIP straight from the bitcoin/bips repo, then an LLM rewrites it in plain language — what it does, what changes, who it affects.

2. Ask anything. Still not clear? Ask follow-up questions. No question is too basic, and nobody gets called a nocoiner.

3. See where people stand. Two different signals, deliberately kept apart:

  • What Nostr is saying — we find public discussion of each proposal and classify every post as good / not good / not sure, then report the net result. BIP 300 currently draws on 460 real posts.
  • What people paid for — Lightning zaps, split for and against. Money- weighted opinion sits next to plain headcount, because where those two disagree is the interesting part.

4. Have a real say. Vote free over a NIP-88 poll, or put sats behind it with a zap. Either way it lives on Nostr — public, yours, and impossible to silence.
