The write-up
SeedBoy is an open-source project exploring the Nintendo Game Boy as an offline Bitcoin signing device, bringing seed generation, wallet derivation, and transaction signing to an 8-bit console. Its retro hardware offers unexpected advantages: no built-in internet connectivity, physical buttons and a dedicated display, replaceable cartridges, and a well-documented architecture supported by decades of community knowledge. SeedBoy gives existing hardware a new purpose while making Bitcoin self-custody tangible, educational, and a little nostalgic.
